The Pineapple Ring

by Melinda Bailey | Feb 4, 2016 | Design, Fine Jewellery, Gemstones

Recycled platinum trilogy engagement ring featuring synthetic rubies

Pineapples … an odd inspiration.

The beautifully detailed ruby and diamond engagement ring is affectionately known in-house at EJA as ‘the pineapple ring’. Why?

Pineapples happen to be something much-loved by the intended wearer. And, if you really use your imagination, you’ll see the undercarriage (the bit under the stones) is shaped in the form of an inverted, truncated pyramid, vaguely reminiscent of a pineapple top. It’s a stretch for sure, but who are we to argue?

Once again made by our most talented Chris. Each section of the undercarriage is made from individually cut and pierced sides to form little tiny boxes all joined together and fitted to the band.

Around each Chatham step-cut synthetic ruby sits bead-set Argyle white diamonds. Once again, platinum is the metal of choice, creating a ring that truly makes a statement.

Just as well, because the owner is one of those larger-than-life personalities – a roller derby gal who loves to stand out from the crowd.

Even more gratifying is the customer feedback on this piece!

Hi Melinda,

Well, the proposal went perfectly as planned and she said yes!!! She absolutely loves the ring and it’s already proving to be very popular with everyone who sees it. She particularly loves the pineapples!! And of course she loves the entire concept of ethically produced jewelry, she loves that too!!

Thank you so much for your input and work with creating the ring, and please pass on my satisfaction to Chris – he’s done amazing work and it’s something we’ll both cherish for a very long time!!!
